Downtown Tampa – Condos and Convenience

July 8, 2011

Tampa, Florida is an amazing place to live. Not only does the area enjoy some of the finest weather in the country, but Tampa also has a very strong economy. Add to that the convenience of living and working downtown, and Tampa can’t be beat.

One thing Tampa has that most downtowns do not is waterfront. Surrounded by beaches, Tampa’s downtown has plenty of ocean view condos and waterfront real estate. What could be better than to be within walking distance to the beach-and your job? Not much!

Whether you prefer loft style suites or a condo in an ultra-modern new condo, Tampa has what you’re looking for. Tons of old warehouses are getting interior renovations, turning them into trendy loft living. Similarly, construction of new condos is hot right now. There is no shortage of beautiful Tampa real estate. Here are a few of the notable new developments, all on one street: Channelside. There’s 1000 Channelside, with two-story units that each feature their own roof-top patio. The Lofts at 212 Channelside showcase glass block, polished steel and redwood to compliment the otherwise rustic interiors. Channelside Condos, featuring 276 units atop of retail outlets. Channelside Village, a four-block development reminiscent of European cities like Barcelona. The Place at Channelside is a modern loft-style condo development with hardwood floors and granite counter tops. There’s retail shops on the ground floor and even an outdoor pool. Then there’s the Towers at Channelside, two 30-story towers chock full of high quality units. Finally, there’s Seaport Channelside, with around 422 luxury residential units. I think I might be missing one-and that’s only one street!

As you can see, there is lots happening in Tampa right now. And with a bit of a slump in sales, prices are very reasonable. If you want to take advantage of the hot Tampa real estate market, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Colonnade Inn: A Piece of History in Sea Isle City, New Jersey

July 7, 2011

When you hear of Sea Isle City, the last thing that would probably pop into your head is history. Known for its beaches and as a lively tourist summer destination, the small town of Sea Isle City is in fact home to a beautiful piece of Victorian-style building – The Colonnade Inn.

The Colonnade Inn, built in 1883, was built a summer hotel back in the day when the city was even more popular as a summer destination than it is now. During that time, summer hotels cropped up around the place to accommodate the crush of tourists that came during the summer months and disappeared the rest of the year. Nowadays, while tourists are still plentiful in Sea Isle City during summer, the summer hotels are gone with only one of the old historic hotels left standing.

The summer hotels were not the only pieces of history that have slowly been erased from Sea Isle City’s map. In fact, just recently, backers of a really old lighthouse lost the battle to developers, resulting in the historic lighthouse being torn down.

The Colonnade Inn is one of the last pieces of history that is still standing in Sea Isle City, and perhaps the only one that is worthy of being called historical due to the restoration process it went through in 2004. Perhaps the fact that it is a hotel, making it profitable, that has allowed it to survive the ravages of time. Or perhaps it is the love of formers owners, the Dorsem family, who clung on to it for a really long time. Whatever it is, it’s a good thing that a small piece of history still has its place in Sea Isle City.
